Music Spotlight Every month our Entertainment Editor Rachel (Martin County High) picks a collection of songs you can hear online. Maroon 5, Hit cd- Songs about Jane Bio- Originally called Kara's Flowers, Maroon 5 has become one of the most successful bands of the year. Songs such as "Harder to Breathe" and "This Love" have helped bring their latest cd Songs About Jane to platinum status.

Brand New, Jude Law and a Semester Abroad Combining a pop punk and post-emo sound, Brand New is a band that satisfies whatever music preference you have. Their new song "Jude Law and a Semester Abroad" has a catchy chorus and lyrics that many can relate to.

Gavin DeGraw, I don't want to be Take notice to Gavin DeGraw as his melodic songs move their way up the charts. His hit song "I don't want to be" can be heard as the theme song on the WB's hit TV show One Tree Hill.

Phantom Planet, California As this years #1 watched television show, the OC's theme song, "California" was heard by people all across America. "California" isn't the only good song by rising stars Phantom Planet, so pay attention to new singles from the self titled album.

Counting Crows, Accidentally in love Counting Crows have been rocking for years, but their new hit from the Shrek 2 soundtrack has brought them a lot of new attention. Their fun beat is sure to lead to a number of other great movie songs.

Snow Patrol, Spitting games Snow Patrol is a British alternative pop/rock band who have just made their American debut with the single "Spitting Games." With a sound that's not too hard, it's easy to fall in love with this band.

Van Hunt, Dust The sound of R&B has taken a new edge with Van Hunt's new single "Dust." His self titled album features a smooth guitar and a classical and contemporary soul sound that is sure to be liked by many.

Yellowcard, Ocean Avenue Yellowcard has an upbeat punk sound with a twist. In their hot single "Ocean Avenue" they use the violin for rhythm, which really makes their music stand out.

Brandy, Talk about our love With Kanye West's immediate popularity, every artist is jumping at the chance to collaborate. Brandy and Kanye's song "Talk about our love" has a great beat for dancing and can be found on her new cd Afrodisiac out June 29th.

Lost Prophets, Last train home "Last train home" is an anthem of doing anything for love, Its catchy melody and arrangement of music is sure to carry Lost Prophets to the top of the charts.
